Noise #147: Fire in the sky
The meaning and aftermath of Iran's attack on Israel.
According to today’s Washington Post, Iran likely orchestrated its assault on Israel to create spectacular visuals—and negligible destruction:
“Iran didn’t inflict maximum damage,” said Sanam Vakil, director of the Middle East and North Africa program at London’s Chatham House think tank. Yet “this was important for them symbolically,” she added, as a signal to domestic hawks and its regional proxies.
I wrote Noise #147 while imagining the path of projectiles shattering and falling.
I also wove in multiple layers of sound to reflect the deep complexities at play—cultural, geopolitical, social, religious.
The piece swirls rhythmically and harmonically, to represent the swirling uncertainty of what happens next.
Wishing you peace,
Michael
