250 tractors are rumbling along Italy’s A1 motorway from Tuscany to Rome as I type this sentence.
The incongruous motorcade is part of a protest movement that has flared into sight not just in Italy, but in France, Greece, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Romania, and other European countries as well.
Protest leaders say that farmers feel betrayed by politicians, that the EU’s battle against carbon emissions has manifested in policies that strangle their businesses.
Noise #129 channels the imagined picture of farm vehicles encircling Rome. It also reflects on two vital goals—zero greenhouse pollution and maximum agricultural success—and my conviction that both can be achieved together.
Wishing you peace,
Michael
